Ette Media can also reveal it wasn’t just Albanese’s number - other private details about the PM are easily accessible online.
Jason Sawyer, a 23-year-old self-described “ethical hacker and cyber security researcher”, says he contacted the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) on February 28, 2025, to alert them that the Prime Minister’s personal number had been published on a US-based website.
Sawyer says he also warned the agency that he’d uncovered other accounts and personal information linked to the PM.

In emails seen by Ette Media, Sawyer tells the ASD he found the Prime Minister’s number simply by googling “Anthony Albanese” and the website’s name.

On Monday, Ette Media revealed that the Prime Minister’s number, along with personal contact details for several other politicians - including Opposition Leader Sussan Ley and NSW Premier Chris Minns - had been published on the same site.
By Tuesday, the Australian Federal Police said it was “formally seeking for the Prime Minister’s personal contact details to be removed from these sites.”
The Guardian reported that the AFP was “scrambling” to assist affected politicians.
Scrambling? The government’s known about this for months, hasn’t it?
As of Wednesday afternoon, the Prime Minister’s personal number was still on the site.
Emails seen by Ette Media show Sawyer telling the ASD he’d discovered the Prime Minister’s Telegram and WhatsApp accounts. He told Ette Media he’d also found Signal, Telegram, personal Instagram, and Apple accounts he believed were linked to the PM, as well as the model of the mobile phone used by the PM.

In the same email chain, seen by Ette Media, the ASD discouraged Sawyer from going public about what he’d found.
Ette Media contacted the ASD for comment. They referred us to the AFP, which declined to respond.
